Something you should know?

Recent published research studies in 2009 and in 2014 show that at least 78% of general dentist agree that endodontic treatment of a salvageable tooth would provide an equal or preferable outcome to an extraction and dental implant. The key word here, of course, is “salvageable.” This means that the dentists agree that there is sufficient healthy tooth structure remaining for the general dentist to rebuild or restore the tooth.

Most dentists believe that keeping your natural tooth whenever possible is the best treatment choice. Of course, the risks and benefits have to be weighed for each individual situation.

In the most recent 2014 study, 94% of the general dentists surveyed agree that Endodontist (root canal specialists) are their partners in delivering quality dental care. This is especially important when the root canal treatment required is more complicated, for example, in treating a molar tooth, a tooth with curved roots, a tooth which has infection, a tooth which has been traumatized, or a tooth which has calcified blockages in the roots.
